I was a guest alongside the economist and former MP and former member of the Treasury Committee George Kerevan, the Bafta-winning filmmaker Samir Mehanović and Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley Police Anthony Stansfeld for a post-film chat after a screening of Samir’s film “Spank The Banker”.
“Spank The Banker” is a feature-length documentary about what’s been described “the biggest theft anywhere, ever”. Samir Mehanović’s film charts the stories of six ordinary but courageous individuals who fought back against morally-bankrupt banks (largely RBS/NaWest, Lloyds/HBOS ad NAB/Clydesdale) after these institutions arbitrarily turned against them as they scrambled to rebuild their tattered balance sheets in the wake of the crash of 2007-9.
The film, cut to 52 minutes and renamed “Banksters”, is now available to watch free on Vimeo.
